Real Estate Tops Gallup’s List of Best Long-Term Investments

When it comes to building long-term financial security, Americans want something they can count on. According to the latest Gallup poll, more Americans chose real estate as the best long-term investment than any other option. Thirty-six percent put their trust in real estate—more than stocks, gold, savings accounts, bonds, or cryptocurrency. It has held the top spot every year since 2014.

As a Gallup-Certified Strengths Coach, I pay close attention to how Gallup’s research reflects people’s beliefs and behaviors. This year’s results are a powerful reminder of what Americans continue to trust when it comes to building long-term value.

Gallup’s 2025 Rankings: What Americans Trust Most

  • Real Estate: 36%
  • Stocks or Mutual Funds: 22%
  • Gold: 18%
  • Savings Accounts or CDs: 13%
  • Bonds: 4%
  • Cryptocurrency: 3%

Why Americans Are Looking for Reliable Investments

People want to feel confident about where their money is going. But when markets are unpredictable, and investment advice feels overwhelming, it is easy to feel uncertain.

Year after year, Americans keep choosing real estate. Why? Because it feels dependable. Home values have risen steadily over the past two decades, and even with some recent adjustments, real estate has outpaced most other investment types. It is something you can live in, improve, and watch grow over time.

What the 2025 Investment Trends Reveal

  • More Americans now trust stocks than they did a year ago
  • Gold has dropped in popularity after a brief rise
  • Opinions vary by income level, but real estate leads across the board

Whether you are just starting out or planning your next move, real estate continues to offer something that other investments struggle to match: clarity, control, and long-term confidence.

What This Means for Buyers, Sellers, and Agents

If you are a buyer, you want to know your money is going into something that builds value over time.

If you are a seller, you want to feel confident that what you have built will hold its worth in the eyes of others.

If you are an agent, your clients are counting on you to guide them toward decisions they will feel good about for years to come.

At Worthington Realty, we are committed to restoring trust and respect in real estate by deeply understanding each client’s needs, so every homeowner feels heard, valued, and confident in their decisions. That kind of trust does not come from stats alone. It comes from listening closely and delivering with care.

If you are in Lee County or Fort Myers and wondering how this national trend reflects in your neighborhood, we would be glad to help you make sense of it.
