McGregor’s Public House: Best of Gulfshore 2025

Some places are just restaurants.

Then there’s McGregor’s Public House — an Irish-influenced gastropub where the Perfect Pint is just the beginning, and the welcome feels as natural as breathing. A home away from home, full of great food, good drink, and more than a wee bit o’ Irish hospitality.

Known for pouring one of the finest pints of Guinness this side of Dublin, McGregor’s has steadily become something more. It is a place where the music lingers, the food warms your soul, and the sense of belonging follows you out the door like an old Irish blessing.

But if you have ever been to McGregor’s, you know it is never just about the awards. It is the feeling you get when you are there.

Just last night, running short on time, we packed up our teens and headed to the pub, one of the perks of living nearby. Monday night means live music, and Claire Liparulo was playing.

Claire played everything from Sarah McLachlan to Reba to Johnny Cash, a blend that feels right at home at McGregor’s. A true singer-songwriter rooted in Folk, Americana, and Soul, Claire’s warmth fills the room even before she sings a note. Her covers are always a treat, but her original songs are unforgettable, and if you have not heard them yet, you need to follow her on Spotify.

As her music carried through the pub, we shared a table full of favorites.

The Gaelic Garden board was perfect for sharing, a rustic spread of hummus, marinated tomatoes, olives, roasted nuts, and artichokes that kept everyone picking between bites and songs.

The Public House Salad was a fresh mix of heirloom tomatoes, rainbow carrots, and red onion over spring greens, all topped with rich Dubliner Irish cheddar and their signature Guinness bread crumbles, crunchy, tangy, and savory in all the right ways.

The Mrs. McGregor’s Farm salad brought roasted chicken breast, sweet seasonal berries, and fresh fruits together with Swiss cheese, garlic-roasted pepitas, and a light spring mix, bright, flavorful, and just a little unexpected.

We also ordered the When in Rome wrap. Served cold, it is packed with roasted kale, sun-dried tomatoes, Caesar dressing, and a trio of shaved cheeses, all wrapped in a fresh spinach-herb tortilla.

I personally enjoyed the Cousin from Killarney, thick slices of Guinness-braised corned beef layered with Swiss and provolone on grilled marble rye, finished with a sharp horseradish aioli.

And the Rowdy Birds did not last long, a spicy buffalo chicken wrap with rasher bacon, provolone, and dill pickles, all rolled in a sun-dried tomato wrap and named after The Rowdy Bards, a legendary local Irish band.

You might not find it printed on the menu, but nights like that remind you what McGregor’s really serves: community, memories, and a sense of home.

Tom and Meagan McGregor were friends of ours before the pub ever opened. Since day one, we have believed in what they were building, and we have been proud to stand alongside them. Worthington Realty is honored to be the presenting sponsor of the annual McGregor’s Kilts & Kilometers 5K, organized by Apex Promoz and supported by local partners like Fleet Feet Fort Myers.

If you have not been to McGregor’s, this is your sign. Go for the food. Stay for the music. And leave feeling like you have found your people.
